Gail Bessette’s refreshingly subtle oil paintings are a testament to her sensitivity to nature, her joie de vivre, and her intelligence of mind. They evoke an immediate emotion with their exquisite beauty, without over-stimulating the viewer into passivity. Gail claims of her delightful and renowned paintings, “...I am attempting to capture the sensations of a first glance- the moment just prior to recognition. I have noticed that a sideways glimpse of something will stimulate a sensation that disappears when the scene is more closely scrutinized. It is this initial impression, and all its potential, that I strive to create on canvas.”
Gail received her B.A. from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, her M.B.A. from Clarkson University, and recently studied painting with Lia Xia Jiang at Potsdam State University. Since embarking on an artistic path, Gail has won numerous awards from a variety of artistic bastions including, the Allied Artists of America, Salmagundi Club, Copley Society and National Arts Club. Her evocative paintings adorn the walls of many private and public collections, including the Amoco Corporation in Chicago, The Bank of Montreal, and the Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art in Bolivar, MO.
