"My work is about inquiry. The art making process becomes the subject matter. Working abstractly and loosely referential allows an intimacy and flexibility to discover and express. I explore the language of different media and materials. Combining paint and pencil on wood, for example, can evoke different qualities of relationship."

The concept behind these paintings is the timeless yet fleeting feelings of summer. The scratching, transparency and layers of the wax allude to the visceral qualities of the body exposed to the elements of water, sun, wind and heat. The subtlety of tones refers to the quality of light, the way the hues change throughout the long summer days."
