Gregory Kammerer has been painting steadily for the last twenty years. He began as a watercolorist and gradually moved towards painting on panel, first in acrylic and then to tempera and oil.

In the last years Gregory has been painting predominantly in oil, enjoying its richness of texture and spontaneity. In addition to painting on gessoed panel, he has experimented with unprimed cherry and bird's eye maple panel, as well as heavily gessoed canvas mounted on panel.

Gregory's artistic sensibility belongs to the 19th century tradition of the American School of luminism. Light emanates from his paintings. Drawn to images of water and the sweep of nature, Kammerer's landscapes evoke worlds distilled form memory that are both longed for and compelling, His paintings are often private in scale, nevertheless projecting infinite space.
