Under Amy Kaufmans skillful eye and hand, the color and grid patterns of everyday life become abstract oil-based one-of-a-kind prints. Within each unique print, the depth of colors and their glowing interplay create complex edges and powerful focal points only to be further heightened by the richness of the paint which is directly applied to each work of art after it has been worked through the press.
Kaufman hails from Newton, MA originally, and received her B.A. from Brandeis University before honing her artistic talents at the University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts College of Art, and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston. Her work has enriched exhibits all across the country, including such artistic bastions as the Philadelphia and New York Museums of Fine Art.
Kaufman explains one of the many joys of creating monoprints is ... the element of surprise as you slowly take the paper off the plate after it is run through the press... I enjoy exploring this printmaking process, finding it creative, challenging, and satisfying.
Each monotype is a unique impression. All of Amy's work is one of a kind
