"For me art speaks to that place in each of us which is simultaneously private and shared. I work with images and visions which resonate in ways that evoke a response, bring forth a memory, or create a mood. Attempting to accomplish this without literal references to the physical world, invites the viewer to interact with the work from his/her own experience. The work does not attempt to control individual responses which may be radically different or amazingly similar. Art and nature are companions and my work is an attempt to capture human responses to the natural world by representation of it’s mystery.

Materials and abstract design concepts are most important to me. Oil is my preferred medium for its depth of color, surface beauty and joy of handling. Division of space sets the scene, color the mood and balance the tempo and rhythm. My artistic goal is to seek, acknowledge and create a variety of harmonies. " - Carol Odell
