Kathryn Olson has studied painting at San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA; Pratt Instutute, Brooklyn, NY; and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. In 1998 Kathryn followed her heart to Cape Cod, where she lives with her husband and two sons. She is currently on sabatical, cherishing the beauty and magic of motherhood.

"Somewhere between the natural world and a world abstracted from nature lies for me the deepest satisfaction in painting. I don't know why this is, I am simply driven by nature and my brush, by process and results. My paintings are responses to sensations of light, of texture, of form, often unexpectedly brought forth by the paint itself. Painting creates and inspires new heights, but most magically it reveals the moment. Submitting to the visual is a process which deeply connects me to my surroundings and shows me the power beauty contains to lift us higher."
