Fay Shutzer is living proof that childhood dreams can come true. While still very young, Fay desperately wanted art lessons and although several were forthcoming, this dream was soon overshadowed by her academic requirements for earning a degree in psychology. Following her graduation, Fay married and raised four children and established herself as an authority on child and adolescent psychology. It was not until moving to the inspirational sands of Cape Cod ten years ago that Fay grasped brush and palette knife in hand once again, and began to fulfill her dream of becoming an artist.
Fay’s Cape Cod landscapes and cottages convey a graceful warmth and soulfulness which can only come from a deep love of her subjects. She claims, “I can only paint what I am connected to.” Her true gift lies in her ability to use light and shadow to define the shapes of her subjects, and to capture the time of day with exquisite representations of Cape Cod sun and color.
Fay is a member of the Art Student’s League, New York, and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
