"I grew up sailing small boats all over Nantucket Harbor. Every destination was a new deserted beach to explore, and the horseshoe crabs were always in the shallows. They would pass underneath like shadows, dark and mysterious with a grace in their ancient form outside any human ideals of beauty.
My pottery shop is farther inland now. There is usually snow on the ground when I am making these crabs, but they still take me back to the late sixties and an island that the world had not yet found. I cast these particular crabs from shells found on the beach in Wellfleet Harbor." - Mark Rea
Ceramic horseshoe crabs are 8.5"w x 18"l. Colors shown below: chocolate, chocolate frosted, green, pink and temoko.
