"As a photographer I try to capture the great beauty of the area of New England I know best: the dune, marshes, beaches and harbors of my home on outer Cape Cod. The dramatic tidal changes, great sweeps of sand and sky, and the rustic charm of the towns lend themselves to panoramic photography.
I shoot my images on 120mm film with a medium format camera and also a large German swing-lens panoramic camera, ,usually in the early morning hours when sky colors are more subtle and the long shadows add dimension and drama.
I process and scan the negatives myself, rendering the film image to a large digital file. I find that since the negatives that I start with are so large, very little 'tweaking' of the image is necessary if the photo is taken correctly in the first place.
I print the images digitally myself using archival inks and paper. I believe that this new technology is clearly superior to traditional processing, and gives the artist far better control of color and contrast.
