Philip Keohan lives in Wellfleet with his wife. He has worked for over twenty years as a school psychologist/counselor in schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Philip has family ties to Provincetown, Truro, and Wellfleet where he spent summers until moving to Wellfleet year round. This combined with summers as a Cape Cod National Seashore Interpretive Park Ranger, has given him knowledge of many often unexplored areas.
An avid runner and meditator, Philip spends much time running on the fire roads and sea cliffs of the Outer Cape, with his camera and tripod in tow. For this photographer, running, meditation and photography go well together. Running often becomes his meditation. With a camera in hand he must be constantly aware and in the present moment to compose and capture an image or feeling.
Whether photographing an expansive subject or focusing in on detail, Philip's images reflect the sense of peace that is present in nature. Great pleasure is derived from looking through a camera lens and finding a view of something that has become familiar.
Philip's images are included on the Cape Cod National Seashore Screen Saver and the cover of Thoreau's Cape Cod, an audio tape, published by On Cape Publishing, Yarmouthport,, Massachusetts. Currently Philip is working on a photography book combining his photographs with the teaching of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, spiritual leader from Bangalor, India, and the founder of the Art of Living foundation. All enlargements are done by master printer Bob Korn of Bob Korn Imaging, formerly Cape Light, in Orleans, Massachusetts.
