Fiber is the perfect medium for the type of work I like to do. A simple piece of fabric can be cut, layered, stitched, dyed, painted, cut up and stitched again. I never see fabric as a whole piece; in my mind it is fragmented and reassembled into something new. Sometimes a piece doesn’t feel complete until it is assembled into a three dimensional object, which may be representational or abstract. I try to work intuitively, letting color and texture guide the process. I enjoy layering many different materials and techniques to achieve depth and dimension in my final pieces.
