Laurel Oswald Clarke

Laurel was born in the 1950’s when life was captured and preserved in black and white. Boxes and boxes of faded photos documenting summers past at the Jersey Shore have always been strong images in her paintings, apparent or not. The shapes, patterns and textures of storm fences, rotting walkways and broken wooden bridges have always influenced what she brings to her paintings. Her works are primarily done with charcoal, walnut and acorn ink and house latex paint on cradled panels.

Laurel currently teaches at her studio, Clark Studio, and Artworks Art Studio both located in Randolph, NJ. She provides drawing and painting classes to teens and adults and has developed a very successful teen art camp program for Artworks Studio. Laurel has also developed a number of very popular workshops that are offered at Clark Studio.
