by Peterman's Boards & Bowls
13" Oak Burl
Spencer Peterman’s bowls are kiln dried to 6% moisture content to stabilize and prevent future cracking and checking.
Hand wash bowls with mild soap and water. Dry off with a towel. Do not place in the diswasher or submerge in water. Our bowls have a food-safe finish to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. We recommend that you apply mineral oil or our specially formulated Boards And Bowl Conditioner once a month (or whenever needed) to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and to help prevent the wood from being stained.
It’s just that easy.
Bowls, boards and salad tossers are treated with bees wax and mineral oil for food safety and to keep the wood from drying out. Almost all the wood comes from fallen trees in Western Massachusetts, such as maple, cherry or black walnut. The maple bowls are figured by the decomposition and aging of the wood, called "ambrosia" or "spalted."
