"I have always been drawn to the beauty of nature in calm and peaceful places and these places are what inspire me. More often than not, I find this essential inspiration in the sea and the life in and around it. Nature’s relationship to man and man’s relationship to nature are an integral part of my paintings. I find beauty, not only in the pristine and the obvious, but also in the rumpled clothes and dirty boots of working fisherman, as well as the peeling paint on their boats.
When I bring this inspiration back to my studio, I try to capture the essence of where I’ve been and what I’ve observed. Good design is also of paramount importance to me and often I enjoy making adjustments to enhance this in the studio. Working from my sketches and photographs, I always trust my memory and impressions. My hope is that I can bring the viewer into the painting, that each person can bring his or her experiences and memories to it and make it their own. " - Del-Bourree Bach
